Certification story

Fulton Umbrellas, the UK’s largest supplier of umbrellas, has achieved Planet Mark certification. Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

This is Fulton Umbrellas’ third year of business carbon footprint reporting and certification to Planet Mark. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. Over the next year, the company will be working towards measuring and reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Through Planet Mark, Fulton Umbrellas has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Steve Malkin
Planet Mark
“As we experience the wettest February on record, in no small part because of the effects of climate change, it feels apt to welcome the largest supplier of quality umbrellas and rainwear in the country join Planet Mark. With access to some of the nation’s leading and most influential designers, Fulton will not only be able to flex its own sustainable credentials, but help so many other businesses and consumers be climate-conscious in their choices. I am delighted to have Fulton Umbrellas on board.”

Certification story

Certification is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

Fulton Umbrellas is committed to being an environmentally responsible company and aims to lead the sector on sustainability. It is committed to minimising its environmental impact and reducing the speed of climate change and resource depletion. The company is powered by 100% green electricity and has committed to continuous measurement of gas, fuel, electricity and water, focusing on the longevity of design and sustainably sourced components and using the minimal amount of packaging, using recycled materials where possible.

The fashion industry must take action in the face of our changing climate. Every product and decision that reaches consumers has a carbon footprint, and both modern shoppers and retailers are becoming more conscious of the environmental impacts of the products they endorse. As concern rightly rises over the carbon footprint of the products consumers buy, brands must consider their own sustainable credentials as a matter of urgency, both for the planet and for the viability of their business.

Future targets

Reduce carbon footprint by 5% annually.

As part of the Planet Mark certification, Fulton Umbrellas has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
