Certification story

Hillbrush, the UK’s largest manufacturer of brushware and hygienic cleaning tools, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

Over the next year, the company will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“Hillbrush has made fantastic strides in its third year with Planet Mark. In a turbulent year for businesses across the world, Hillbrush has made significant progress in its sustainability programme”

Hillbrush is committed to a policy sympathetic to protecting and preserving our environment, minimising environmental impact at all stages of production, and in the way, we package our products. From sourcing vegetable fibres for its products from sustainable sources in developing countries to its Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certification for its wooden products, the company takes tremendous care in its supply chain to provide a range of products with sustainability in mind. The company also encourages its customers to make sustainable decisions, such as changing from buying brushes with fitted handles to threaded handles where possible and cutting down on packaging and transport costs at all stages of production.

Consumers are rapidly becoming more knowledgeable about their role in climate change and carbon production. This means many are requiring strong sustainability standards from the products they purchase. B2B companies and suppliers must continue to demonstrate clear commitments for both the planet and profitability.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Hillbrush must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
