Certification story

Impact Hub King’s Cross bring together impact-driven individuals and organisations through our coworking space, business support programmes, and events, to collectively build a more fair and sustainable future. The company already has a number of initiatives in place; from discussions around food sustainability and supporting sustainable food businesses to contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This is Impact Hub King’s Cross’ second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

Over the next year, the company will continue to work towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“Impact Hub King’s Cross has taken a leap forward in its sustainable thinking. The hub was already supporting many environmental entrepreneurs, but their team has not rested there. Instead, the team has reflected on their own processes and analysed how they can improve. Planet Mark certification is a universally recognised symbol of sustainability, and will enhance Impact Hub King’s Cross’ already stellar brand. I look forward to working alongside them further.”

Impact Hub King’s Cross brings together impact-driven individuals and organisations through our coworking space, business support programmes, and events, to collectively build a more fair and sustainable future. Alongside regular food and environment Talks, the hub has hosted business support workshops, hackathons and meditation sessions for sustainable entrepreneurs. Impact Hub King’s Cross has also pledged to conserve an acre of rainforest through the conservation charity Cool Earth.

Social organisations must be keen to walk the walk on sustainability. While offering spaces and opportunities to allow for positive change, it is important to acknowledge that change starts from within. As well as the moral imperative, social organisations will face increased scrutiny from their stakeholders to hold up to the highest standards.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Impact Hub Kings Cross must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
