Certification story

Morr & Co, one of the leading solicitor firms in Surrey, Hampshire and South West London, and committed to providing its clients with outstanding legal advice and practical solutions that help them achieve their goals, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

Morr & Co is committed to providing its clients with outstanding legal support while minimising its environmental impact. The solicitors moved offices to its new Redhill site because of environmental considerations, now occupying a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A-rated building.

Climate change become a high priority issue for law firms across the planet. In the decade of climate action, the legal industry must capitalise on clients’ increasing awareness of the impacts of climate change. Becoming knowledgeable about sustainability and following best practice has become an integral part of client acquisition and retention in the sector. A thorough sustainability policy is also of growing importance in the recruitment and retention of staff, and the long-term resilience of a business.

Over the next year, the company will continue to reduce its carbon emissions and share its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“Well done to Morr & Co in its second year of Planet Mark certification. Without a clear vision of progress, and the indicators of current work, it is so hard to measure positive impact. Morrisons has laid the foundations for future change this year. This is such a vital achievement, one that many businesses will have to take in the future. I applaud the team for their proactive stance on climate change.”

Going beyond

Through Planet Mark, Morr & Col has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Morr & Co must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
