Certification story

RO Real Estate develops, manages and invests in commercial property throughout the UK. The company is working closely with Planet Mark to measure and reduce its carbon footprint.

Understanding and measuring its carbon footprint is the first step in identifying ways to minimise its impact on the planet. RO Real Estate wants to ensure that it is a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring its own impact on the environment.

Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in environmental policies in its business operations and engaging its stakeholders. Over the next few years, the company will be working towards measuring and reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others.

The company also measured its social value contributions. This refers to the net social and environmental benefits generated by its team. Measuring its social value gives a holistic insight into its positive contributions to not only the environment but also to society, demonstrating its commitment to meaningfully contribute to a better planet for all.

Through Planet Mark, RO Real Estate will be protecting an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It will also be helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year RO Real Estate must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
