Certification story

Thames Cleaning and Support Services, an office cleaning and support services company has achieved the Planet Mark certification. In this crucial Decade of Action, the company wants to ensure that it is a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet. Understanding and measuring its carbon footprint is the first step in identifying ways to minimise its impact on the planet.

Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders. Over the next year, it will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others.

The company will also measure its social value contributions. This refers to the net social and environmental benefits generated by its team. Measuring its social value gives a holistic insight into its positive contributions to not only the environment but also to society, demonstrating its commitment to meaningfully contribute to a better planet for all.

Going beyond

Through Planet Mark, Thames Cleaning and Support Services will be protecting an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It will also be helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Thames Cleaning and Support Services must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
