Certification story

Wilten Construction, a national main contractor is committed to paving the way to a brighter future in the construction industry and becoming a market leader in sustainable construction.

Understanding and measuring its carbon footprint is the crucial first step in identifying ways to minimise its impact on the planet. Over the next year, it will be working towards measuring and reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others.

Wilten Construction has also measured its social value contributions. This refers to the net social and environmental benefits generated by its team. Measuring its social value gives a holistic insight into its positive contributions to not only the environment but also to society, demonstrating its commitment to meaningfully contribute to a better planet for all.

Through Planet Mark, the company will be protecting an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It will also be helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Wilten Construction must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
