Certification story

Road marketing and highway safety business WJ Group has achieved the Planet Mark certification.

The group is committed to collaborating with its supply chain and industry partners to tackle the climate crisis, ensuring they leave a lasting, positive legacy for future generations. WJ Group want to ensure they are protecting the planet, supporting its communities and deliver long-term value for all its stakeholders.

Understanding and measuring its carbon footprint is the first step in identifying ways to minimise its impact on the planet. Over the coming years, WJ Group will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others.

The company has also measured its social value contributions. This refers to the net social and environmental benefits generated by its team. Measuring its social value gives a holistic insight into its positive contributions to not only the environment but also to society, demonstrating its commitment to meaningfully contribute to a better planet for all.

By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Through Planet Mark, WJ Group has protected endangered rainforests thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

The Group has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year WJ Group must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
