Certification story

Wrenbridge, a leading UK property company with offices in Cambridge and London, has achieved Planet Mark certification. Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

This is Wrenbridge’s third year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Over the next year, the company will continue to work towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“I am so pleased that Wrenbridge achieved its carbon emissions reduction target this year. After taking stock of the company’s impact on the planet, and committing to continuous improvement in sustainability, it is always exciting to see the fruits of labour in bloom. Wrenbridge has done an exceptional job in difficult times for business, and the whole team should be applauded.”
Peter Jarman
Managing Director
“At Wrenbridge, we recognise our part in reducing global emissions and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. We aspire to be among global leaders in sustainable development and therefore place significant emphasis on integrating ESG considerations into all aspects of design and construction, as well as in our business operations. Planet Mark certification supports these commitments and enables us to achieve an environmental and social impact that is responsible. This approach allows us to create lasting value for our investors and communities.”

Wrenbridge has sought to lessen its impact on the world through its carbon-cutting commitments. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Wrenbridge has committed to build back better with a greater focus on climate and sustainability. New projects such as the Fuse warehouse development are being designed with sustainable principles embedded into construction, and the company has also protected an acre of endangered rainforest in South America through a collaboration with conservation charity Cool Earth.

The built environment industry has an opportunity to benefit enormously from sustainability. As one of the nation’s biggest contributors to carbon emissions, pioneering companies must think environmentally to meet modern demand, working within their own organisations and with their stakeholders and supply chains to create whole-life conscious construction projects. Forward thinking organisations stand to gain the most from sustainable practice as standards and the demands of consumers continue to evolve.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Wrenbridge must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
