What is Net Zero?

Net Zero is a term we use to describe what we as organisations need to achieve in order to stabilise the climate and mitigate the most dangerous impacts of climate change. It is a balance between greenhouse gas emissions being emitted and removed from our atmosphere.

Why is this important?

Net Zero is the only credible long term approach we have to solving the climate crisis and prevent the climate warming no more than 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels. Companies are aligning around this goal and is fast becoming one of the costs of doing business.

How do you achieve Net Zero?

You can achieve Net Zero by measuring all the carbon emissions associated with your activities (Scopes 1,2 and 3) and then reducing those emissions by at least 90% by 2050, with a 50% reduction by 2030.

The biggest challenge and opportunity in reaching Net Zero is that you must collaborate with your suppliers and customers to your reduce your mutual carbon emissions associated with the products and services you buy and sell.

Planet Mark can enable you to achieve your Net Zero ambitions through our Net Zero Programme and growing collaborative community of certified organisations.
